HATTIESBURG, Miss. â€" The Southern Miss Lady Eagle basketball team is set to tilt with the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion tomorrow night at 6 p.m. CT.
Promotions for the first conference home game include Kids Day and a Youth Basketball Scrimmage. The game is free for all kids ages 12 and under. Kids may pick up their free ticket at the Reed Green Box Office prior to entering the Coliseum. Halftime will feature the Girls teams from the North Forrest Youth Basketball League.
The Lady Eagles are coming off of their first C-USA road trip sweep since the 2014-15 season. That trip was also a sweep of UTSA and UTEP.
The 7-8 overall, 2-2 C-USA, Lady Monarchs boast the nation's second leading scorer, Jennie Simms (24.7 ppg), and the player with the fourth most double-double this season, Destinee Young (10).
"We've had a really good week this week,' said head coach Joye Lee-McNelis. "We've focused on some details that will help us improve because we face two really good basketball teams this week. Old Dominion is extremely athletic and Jennie Simms will be a WNBA draft pick. She can score at will. Destinee Young is the second part of ODU's one-two punch. She's a post player that has the ability to score as well."
The women's teams are 2-2 all-time against each other and the two have split the last meetings in Hattiesburg.
Lady Eagle Senior Brittanny Dinkins is coming off of a career-high 29 point outburst and Freshman Shonte Hailes is C-USA's reigning Freshman of the Week after notching her first career double-double at UTEP and has had double digit scoring figures in four straight games.
Tickets can be purchased online at SouthernMissTickets.com, or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-844-TICK (8425) as well as visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Center.
