Golden Eagles' 2016 Soccer Schedule Released

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss soccer program has announced its 2016 schedule. Head coach Mohammed El-Zare's fourth season will begin Aug. 19 at home against Southern at 4 p.m.
The Golden Eagles will have five non-conference home games, including a Sept. 4 contest against Mississippi State at 5 p.m. The two squads tied in 2015, and Southern Miss won 3-0 in the last home match-up (2013) by scoring all of its goals in an eight-minute span.
Other non-conference home tilts include ULM (Aug. 26), Lamar (Sept. 9) and Jackson State (Sept. 11), one of two weekend home doubleheaders.
Arkansas State hosts the Golden Eagles for their first road match on Aug. 21, and Southern Miss will look to get its fourth win in five years against the Red Wolves. The squad will also have two close-proximity contests at UL Lafayette (Aug. 28) and Alcorn State (Sept. 2).
The Conference USA slate commences with a Sept. 18 afternoon home match-up against Louisiana Tech. The last two Hattiesburg contests come against UAB and Middle Tennessee State on Oct. 21 and 23, respectively. The regular season ends Oct. 28 at UTEP.
