Men's Tennis Falls 4-2 to Louisiana-Lafayette

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team dropped a close 4-2 match against Louisiana-Lafayette Friday at the USM Tennis Courts.
The Golden Eagles fell to 14-8 on the season while UL-Lafayette improved to 16-10.
Southern Miss took the early lead after winning the doubles point. Daniel Merker and Tarun Surat fell to Edgar Lopez and Eric Perez at No. 1 by the score of 6-2. The Golden Eagles evened the match with a 6-3 win at No. 2 when Chao-Yu Huang and Wen-Po Tseng defeated Coleman Wohlborg and Arthur Libaud. Jorman Reyes and Rakshit Rishi clinched the point at No. 3 in a tie-breaker 7-6 (3) against Michael Kritzinger and Vlad Kramorov.
Heading into the singles competition, Rishi put the Golden Eagles up 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles against Kritzinger.
The Ragin' Cajuns earned their first point of the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3. Louisiana went on to take three more wins in clinching the win.
Southern Miss returns to action Saturday against Alabama State.
