
Softball Resumes C-USA Play with LA Tech

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- After claiming a run-rule victory on Wednesday, the Southern Miss softball team returns to the diamond for a three-game Conference USA series with Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La. The weekend starts with a doubleheader on Saturday slated for 2:00 p.m. and concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Southern Miss enters the weekend with a 24-24 overall record and a 10-8 mark in C-USA play. Louisiana Tech is 27-17 on the season with an 8-7 record in the league.
The Golden Eagles comes into the games on the heels of a 10-2 run-rule victory over ULM on Wednesday night in Hattiesburg. The Black and Gold entered the fifth inning up 5-2 and scored five runs to post the run-rule win.
Louisiana Tech holds a slight advantage in the all-time series, 18-16. Southern Miss is just 2-7 in Ruston, but claimed the three-game series 2-1 in the last meeting between the two team in a the home of the Lady Techsters.
The Golden Eagles are 14-9 against the Lady Techsters since re-instating the softball program in 1999. The two teams have only met once since 1999 in Ruston. The last meeting in Ruston came during the 2014 season in Louisiana Tech's first season in Conference USA.
