Track and Field to Host Southern Miss Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's and women's outdoor track and field team to host the Southern Miss Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Friday's field events are slated to start at 3 p.m. with the women's triple jump followed by the men and the men's hammer throw at 3:30 p.m. followed by the women.
Saturday's field events are set to start at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin. Running events will start at 12:10 p.m. with the women's 5000m run.
Teams in attendance include, Coahoma, Hinds, Meridian, Grambling State, Mississippi Valley, Jackson State, Springhill College, Belhaven, William Carey, and Southern Miss.
"We are real excited to host the Southern Miss Invitational this weekend. We get to sleep in our own beds and have our friends and family come watch us compete. It gives us a sense of comfort going into to our home meet that is going to help us compete a little better and get some better times and marks," Head Coach Jon Stuart said.
Coach Stuart added, "It is our lone home meet of the year and we want to do a great job by putting on a great show for our community and holding a great event for our athletes."
