Soccer Inks One to National Letter of Intent

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Head coach Mohammed El-Zare and the Southern Miss soccer team announced the signing of Monica Maldonado to a national letter of intent.
Maldonado joins the Golden Eagles after a stellar career at Creekside High School in St. Johns, Fla. She helped the Knights to the 2015 and 2016 District Championship, while being named First Team All-District as a junior and senior. Maldonado was selected to play at North Florida Senior Girls All-Star Game (2016) and the All-Star Classic (2016). She was named the MVP of the All-Star Classic.
Maldonado scored 51 career goals with 41 career assists for 143 points in prep career. As a senior, she scored 21 goals with nine assists for 51 points. As a junior, Maldonado scored 18 goals with 23 assists for 59 points. She added eight goals with seven assists for 23 points as a sophomore, while beginning her prep career with four goals with two assists for 10 points as a freshman.
Maldonado played club soccer for TNT Dynamite Soccer Club, Jacksonville Youth Soccer, and Florida Elite Soccer Academy. She won a championship with TNT Dynamite.
