Hattiesburg, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Women's Basketball team will hit the court Tuesday Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. for the first time in the 2016-2017 season.
The Golden Eagles will host the Choctaws of Mississippi College in the team's first and only exhibition game. The Choctaws have not played in Reed Green Coliseum since 1990 when Head Coach Kay James led the Golden Eagles to a 93-60 victory. Southern Miss is 16-11 all-time against Mississippi College. The Golden Eagles and the Choctaws first played each other in Jan. of 1976, during the Lady Eagles first season.
Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis is ready for her team to get on the floor, but knows Mississippi College won't roll over.
"Mississippi College is a well-coached team. Coach Paul Allen [Duke] does a tremendous job," McNelis said. "He is a long time coach with great experience and has had much success at Mississippi College. In us preparing for them we've seen a lot of what they've done from last year. I know, because of how great of a coach he is, he's going to throw everything in [at us]."
Admission to the game is free and can be heard on the Southern Miss IMG Sports Network.
