Lady Eagle Preps for Second Meeting with Louisiana Tech

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's basketball prepares for its second meeting with Louisiana Tech in Conference USA action and can be seen on ASN Sunday, Jan. 24 at 12 p.m.

The Lady Eagles (10-6, 3-2) are coming off an 82-55 win over FIU on Jan. 16. Caitlin Jenkins led the way with a double-double performance, scoring 16 points and hauling in 11 rebounds. Jayla King and Jerontay Clemons put up 13 points each while Brittanny Dinkins and Brittny Norris chipped in 11 points apiece.
Jenkins currently leads the team with 12.8 point per game and 10.4 rebounds, while Dinkins adds 12.1 and Clemons 11.8. King adding 5.2 rebounds. Dinkins and Keri Jewett-Giles are handing out 3.6 assists per game each.
Southern Miss is averaging 64.1 points and 38.6 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 63.8 percent from the line. The Lady Eagles are giving up 59.4 points on 39.3 percent shooting. They hold a +3.8 turnover margin against opponents.
A Look at Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Tech (8-8, 3-2) is coming off a 65-62 win over Florida Atlantic on Jan. 16. Brandi Wingate scored a team-best 21 points to go with 10 rebounds, while Ashley Santos added 12 points and Tiara Davenport 11.
In his second season, Head Coach Tyler Summitt owns a 24-23 overall record at LA Tech. He welcomes eight newcomers and returns just four letterwinners from last season's squad.
Wingate averages 16.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, while Brooke Pumroy adds another 10.7 points and Santos is next at 10.3.
Louisiana Tech is averaging 66.9 points and 41.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 69.2 percent from the line.
Series Notes
This is the 10th meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1989-90 season when the two teams met in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The two teams has played twice in the NCAA Tournament. LA Tech leads the overall series 5-4. Southern Miss has won two of the last three meetings.

Following the Louisiana Tech game, the Lady Eagles remain on the road for the next two opponents, Jan. 28 at UTEP and Jan. 30 at UTSA. Tip-off for the UTEP game is set for 8:05 p.m. and 2 p.m. at UTSA.
