Golden Eagle Flyby -- Kay Kay Hypolite and Anne Baumhower

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Golden Eagle Flyby is a new way for the fans to get to know their Southern Miss Golden Eagle athletes. In this segment, we will be spotlighting a few athletes through a series of questions and answers. In the opening Golden Eagle Flyby, we sat down with senior soccer players Kay Kay Hypolite and Anne Baumhower.
Kay Kay Hypolite, Defender
Q: Prior to a game, do you have any superstitions or rituals?
KKH: I do not really have any superstitions or rituals but something I have noticed during practice and competitions is that I tie my shoes very often.
Q: What drives you as an athlete?
KKH: The desire to win as well as being able to stay fit throughout the year drives me as an athlete.
Q: How has Southern Miss impacted your life since you started here?
KKH: Since I started here at Southern Miss, I have had the opportunity to meet many people and make lifelong connections. I have also had numerous opportunities arise since I started here.
Q: How did you manage to get into your sport?
KKH: When I was kid, I was in Walmart and saw this little girl in a soccer uniform and I wanted to wear it. I have been playing soccer ever since.
Q: If you were writing an autobiography, how would you end it?
KKH: To be continued...
Q: Describe your ideal day from start to finish.
KKH: I would start my day with breakfast and then shopping. After shopping, I would go to a theme park and then get lunch. Once I ate lunch, it would be time for a nap. When I wake up for my nap, I would turn the television on and watch that for a little bit before eating dinner and having a night out with friends.
Q: What was the funniest thing that has happened to you at a game?
KKH: I did not realize when I put them on but my shorts were on backwards.
Q: If you could choose a super power, what would it be? Why?
KKH: If I could choose any super power, I would have to be a psychic. That way I could change the future to be the way I wanted it to be.

Q: What brought you to Southern Miss?
AB: Soccer was one of the deciding factors for me to come to Southern Miss. Another deciding factor was my family; my younger sister Allie plays on the team.
Q: What is the biggest difference between high school and collegiate athletics?
AB: The biggest difference has to be the time spent becoming a better athlete. Also the workouts got tougher moving into collegiate sports.
Q: What was your first thought as you walked onto campus for the first time?
AB: The first thought that went through my head as I walked onto campus was how beautiful the campus is.
Q: Describe your ideal 3-course meal.
AB: My ideal 3-course meal would start with a salad that included spinach, blueberries, blue cheese, walnuts and balsamic vinegar. The main course would be sushi with tuna in it. For dessert, anything with chocolate would be perfect.
Q: You walk into a convenience store and can only buy one item, what is it?
AB: If I could only buy one item, it would be gum.
Q: What was the most adventurous thing you have done in the past year?
AB: This past year, I went to Bimini, Bahamas and swam in a sunken ship called the S.S. Sapona.
Q: First thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?
AB: COFFEE!!!
