HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team began its fourth week of spring practice, Tuesday afternoon at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
The Golden Eagles worked under sunny skies during the two and a half hour practice.
"Today was good," said Southern Miss head coach Todd Monken. "We did a few things live today, just to pick it up a bit. We've got to be a more physical football team. But, the guys were good today."
Coach Monken knows that steps need to be taken to increase the physicalness of the team.
"We've got to do more physical drills in practice," added Monken. "We have to take some more risks in terms of going live, because you have to give yourself a chance to see it. We've done some drills in practice to show off the physicalness, so there's some of it."
The Golden Eagles return to practice next Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Practice is open to the general public. Fans are asked to show ID to gain admittance to practice.
The Golden Eagles open their 2015 season at home on Sept. 5, against in-state foe Mississippi State. Season tickets for the upcoming football season can be purchased by going online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office, weekdays during normal business hours.
