
Men's Tennis Collects 6-1 Victory against Bucknell

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Southern Miss men's tennis won its third straight match with a 6-1 win over Bucknell Wednesday in Orlando, improving to 11-4 overall.
"The team got off to a good start to our spring break matches beating Bucknell 6-1," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "The team was sharp in doubles and executed well."
The earned the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Daniel Merker and Mikhail Esipov made quick work of Maxwell Kane and Ben Gerber at No. 3 with a 6-0 win. Alex Doleac and Brad Marriott followed with a 6-1 win over Daniel Wright and Octavio Canibe at No. 2.
The Golden Eagles took the momentum into singles' play, collecting five of the six wins. Southern Miss added its second point when Chao-Yu Huang defeated Bryan Adams, 6-1, 7-6 (3) at No. 2. Rakshit Rishi defeated Octavio Canibe 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 in pushing the lead to 3-0.
Bucknell's point came at the 1 spot when Nick Bybel defeated Tarun Surat, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Mikhail Esipov clinched match point with a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win against Daniel Wright. Brad Marriott downed Maxwell Kane at No. 5 with a 7-5, 6-2 win and Daniel Merker concluded with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 win on court 6.
Southern Miss is back in action against Boston on Friday, Mar. 13, in Ft. Myers.
