HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The NFL Players Association announced commitments to the 2016 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Among those selected to play in the College Bowl is Southern Miss cornerback Kalan Reed.
Reed was a First Team All-Conference USA selection this season. The defensive back tallied 47 tackles and added four interceptions - two for touchdowns -- to go along with a season school-record 19 pass break ups.
Mike Martz will attempt to defend his 2015 National Team title against Mike Holmgren's American Team on January 23, 2016 at StubHub Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills. In the rematch, participating players will benefit from instruction by some of the best to ever play and coach the sport.
The fifth-annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl -- the only game for the players, by the players -- is scheduled for a 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET kickoff and will air nationally on ESPN2. In addition, American and National Team practices on January 20 and 21 will be televised live on ESPNU. The game and practices will also be available via WatchESPN.
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl experience is much more than a game for the participating players. For one week, participants will receive an in-depth introduction to their future union. The NFLPA, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2016, is the primary resource for players for information on the business of football and how to succeed in the NFL and in their post-football careers.
