
Golden Eagle Flyby with Makareta Rademakers

This week in the Golden Eagle Flyby feature, we sat down with junior setter Makareta Rademakers in a quick Q&A.
Rademakers is a media production major from Christchurch, New Zealand and she is one of 11 international players to play volleyball at Southern Miss in the past 24 years. During her career as a setter for Southern Miss, she has played in 33 matches. In 2014, she posted 259 assists and a career high 45 assists against Alabama A&M on September 19.
Q: What brought you to Southern Miss?
MR: I came to Southern Miss because there is a wide variety of academic options and the opportunity to play volleyball at a high level.
Q: Describe your hometown.
MR: Christchurch is the garden city of New Zealand. We have many beautiful gardens and rivers.
Q: Prior to a competition/ game, do you have any superstitions or rituals?
MR: Prior to a competition, I like to listen to my favorite band... Six GO... They are from New Zealand.
Q: Describe your ideal day from start to finish.
MR: My ideal day consists of relaxing on a beach with music playing.
Q: Describe yourself in four words.
MR: I would describe myself as goofy, chill, free-spirited, and weird.
Q: If you could choose a super power, what would it be? Why?
MR: My super power would be to Blue Skidoo (Blue's Clues) into any picture. With this power, I can time travel back into my favorite moments or travel anywhere in the world.
