Lady Eagle Basketball To Face North Texas

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Lady Eagle basketball team concludes it two-game homestand hosting North Texas on Saturday in a 4 p.m. tip-off.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (11-6, 4-2) are coming off a 65-54 win over Rice on Thursday night. Jerontay Clemons was one rebound and two assists shy of a triple double with 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Tamara Jones and Brittanny Dinkins added 12 points each Brooke Rhodes chipped in 11.
Jones leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 17.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She ranked third in the Conference USA in scoring and fifth in field goal percentage including sixth in three-point field goal percentage. Clemons is next at 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Kierra Jordan contributes 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds. She is fourth in the league in field goal percentage, hitting 52.1 percent from the floor. Rhodes adds 7.9 points and is fifth in three-point field goal percentage and in 3-point field goals made in C-USA.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 69.4 points on 45.3 percent shooting from the field and 37.1 rebounds per game. Southern Miss holds a +3.1 turnover margin against its opponents. The Lady Eagles have connected on 96-of-252 from behind the arc.
Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis is in her 11th season at the helm of the Lady Eagle program and her 24th season as a head coach.
A Look at North Texas
North Texas enters today's game with a 2-15 record and is 1-5 in Conference USA. The Mean Green lost at Louisiana Tech Thursday night, 92-57, as BreAnna Dawkins scored a team-best 18 points while Briesha Wynn added 12 points.
Wynn is averaging 11.8 points per game to lead the team while Dawkins adds 9.1 points per contest. Wynn also leads the team in rebounding at 7.1 rebounds per game.
North Texas is averaging just 49.4 points per game while allowing 59.4 points. The Mean Green is connecting on 34.1 percent from the floor and 26.1 percent from three, while allowing 40.6 percent from the field and 28.0 percent from beyond the arc. North Texas is pulling down 35.4 rebounds per game.
Series History: Southern Miss vs. North Texas This is only the second meeting between the two teams. Southern Miss won last year's contest in Denton.
