Softball Announces Fall Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team and head coach Wendy Hogue announced the Golden Eagles' fall schedule for 2014. The Black and Gold will play three doubleheaders for a total of six games at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
"The last few weeks have flown by," Hogue said. "We've been learning and incorporating new defensive schemes, offensive tactics and signals while at the same time getting to know each other. I am extremely proud of the effort and attitude of the team and look forward to seeing where we are against outside competition.
"Our plan for the fall is to better ourselves as a team," added Hogue. "The sooner we are able to compete against outside competition the sooner we will be able to evaluate where we are compared to where we need to be. Every practice we have, every game we play, everything we do, is an effort to have us where we need to be the first weekend in May, 2015."
Southern Miss takes to the diamond on Friday, Oct. 3 with a doubleheader against Meridian Community College. The two teams begin the double dip at 4:00 p.m. with the second game tentatively slated for 6:00 p.m.
The Golden Eagles continue the fall slate with a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 4, when the Black and Gold host Jones County Junior College in a twin bill beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Southern Miss closes out the fall season with a doubleheader on Friday, Oct. 24. The Golden Eagles welcome East Central Community College to the Softball Complex for a doubleheader starting at 4:00 p.m.
Each game is open to the public and admission to the games is FREE.

Saturday, Oct. 4 - vs. Jones County JC (3:00 p.m. / 5:00 p.m.)
Friday, Oct. 24 - vs. East Central CC (4:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m.)
