Men's Basketball Takes on Alabama

Southern Miss and Alabama will meet for the 26th time. The Crimson Tide hold a 20-5 advantage. When played in Tuscaloosa, the UA holds a 14-2 advantage. Alabama has won the last four games, including the last 12 in Tuscaloosa. In fact, Southern Miss is looking for it's first-ever victory in Coleman Coliseum, having dropped the previous six.
Southern Miss is 54-2 all-time in November home games, having won 22 consecutive dating back to 2005. The Black and Gold have also won 35 consecutive home non-conference regular season games.
This will be the second of three straight games against schools from the state of Alabama. The Golden Eagles already defeated South Alabama on Monday and will host Troy (Nov. 25). On the year, Southern Miss will play six games against five schools from the state of Alabama. It will also host Spring Hill (Dec. 13) and play UAB twice (Jan. 17, Feb. 7).Southern Miss has an extensive history against the Southeastern Conference. When the Golden Eagles face Alabama, it will be their 93rd meeting against the SEC. When facing the SEC, Southern Miss is 22-70. It will be the first of two games against the SEC. Southern Miss also travels to LSU on Dec. 29. Head coach Doc Sadler is looking for his first career win over the SEC. He is 0-2, having lost to Ole Miss in the 2008 NIT and Vanderbilt in the 2010 Puerto Rico Tip-Off while at Nebraska.
The 2014-15 edition of the Southern Miss basketball team returns just five letterwinners, including no starters, from last year's squad that went 29-7 and won the Conference USA regular season championship.The Golden Eagles return just five letterwinners from last year's Conference USA Championship team. Forward Matt Bingaya leads the Golden Eagles with 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He is also averaging 1.5 blocks. Guard Shadell Millinghaus is averaging 15.0 points while shooting 69.2-percent from the field. Guard Chip Armelin is scoring 12.0 points per game and pulling down 6.0 boards. Guard Dallas Anglin is adding 9.0 points and guard Rasham Suarez is contributing 5.5 assists per game.
Sadler enters his first season at the helm of the Southern Miss men's basketball program. He has compiled a 150-107 (.584) record in nine years as a head coach.
