Team Notes:
- The Golden Eagle football program made their first trip to San Antonio since 1960 and fifth overall, now holding a 4-1 record in the Alamo City.
- Southern Miss finished the road portion of its 2014 season by making three trips to the state of Texas in their final three road games of the season.
- The program played their first game indoors since the 2010 Beef `O' Brady's Bowl at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
- Southern Miss and its opponent played to a scoreless first quarter for the first time since against UAB on Nov. 3, 2012.
- Junior defensive lineman Wil Freeman and sophomore wide receiver Kyle Sloter each made their first start of the season.
- Sophomore Nick Mullens made his 15th career start against UTSA, after missing the last two games with a foot injury.
- Mullens registered his 13th career 200-yard passing game finishing 21-of-34 for 257.
- Markese Triplett registered his first receiving touchdown of the season, a 22-yard grab in the fourth quarter, giving him six for his career.
- It was the first time this season the Golden Eagles did not allow a sack.
- Dasman McCullum registered his first career interception on UTSA's opening drive. That was the Golden Eagles' first interception in six games.
- It was the first time since defeating SMU 27-3 on Oct. 22, 2011, that the Golden Eagles did not allow a touchdown.
Special Team Notes:
- Michael Thomas is the first Golden Eagle to go over 500 yards in kickoff return yards since Freddie Parham led the Golden Eagles led Southern Miss with 961 during the 2009 season.
- Corey Acosta hit his second field goal in a row on a 36-yard attempt and now has hit 18-of-22 on the year. His 18 field goals moves him into fourth place for a season on the Southern Miss chart, while his 42 career made field goals moves him into third place by himself.
