Defensive Notes

Defensive back Emmanuel Johnson recorded his first career interception in the second quarter.
It is the first time Southern Miss has picked off multiple passes since the 2011 Conference USA Championship game at Houston.
Southern Miss recorded a safety for the second time this year.
Defensive lineman Adam Williams recorded his second sack of the year in the third quarter.
Khyri Thornton and Dasmam McCullum each recorded a half-sack. Thornton now has six sacks for his career and McCullum has one.
