Former Men's Basketball Player Neil Reed Passes Away

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Former Southern Miss men's basketball player Neil Reed passed away yesterday from an apparent heart attack in Nipomo, Calif. He was 36.
Reed played for the Golden Eagles during the 1998-99 season after transferring from Indiana. During that year, Reed led the team with 18.1 points and pulled down 3.3 rebounds. He also connected on 84.5-percent of his free throws, connecting on 131-of-155 from the charity stripe. His performance that year earned him Second Team All-Conference USA honors.
Reed is survived by his wife, Kelly, and their two daughters.
