Southern Miss Soccer Announces 2012 Fall Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Head Soccer Coach Scott Ebke announced today the 2012 women's soccer schedule, a 19-match campaign including a home tournament and matchups against regional rivals.
"We have another tough schedule this upcoming season and we will test our team early on," said Ebke. "Hitting the road early before hosting a tournament will give our team an opportunity to experience a lot of different styles of the game at this level to get us ready for our conference slate."
The Golden Eagles will look to begin their season Aug. 17 and are still in talks with for a season-opening game on that night.
A week later, the squad will take a two-game trip to Louisiana to take on Louisiana Tech (8/24) and Southeastern Louisiana (8/26) in Ruston and Hammond, respectively.
Southern Miss will open up play in Hattiesburg on Aug. 31 when they host the Southern Miss Tournament sponsored by Courtyard Marriot at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. Mississippi State, Georgia State and Louisiana Monroe will be in attendance. On that Friday, Southern Miss will take on Louisiana Monroe and the following Sunday, September 2, they will play Georgia State.
Another pair of road trips follows as they travel to South Alabama and Mississippi State on Sept. 7 and Sept. 9.
The Golden Eagles will host their final non-conference opponent, Arkansas State, on Sept. 14 before they open conference play at UAB on Sept. 21.
Southern Miss will travel to conference opponents UAB (9/21), Memphis (9/23), UTEP (10/12) and Colorado College (10/14) while hosting Rice (9/28), Houston (9/30), SMU (10/5), Tulsa (10/7), Marshall (10/19), East Carolina (10/21) and UCF (10/26).
