Team Notes

Captains for Southern Miss were No. 21 Jeremy Hester, No. 8 Jamie Collins and No. 87 Francisco Llanos.
The Golden Eagles are now 3-1 all-time against SMU with a 1-1 mark in Dallas.
Southern Miss fell to 0-10 and 0-6 in Conference USA play.

Offensive Notes

Kendrick Hardy, Michael Brinson and Jordan Greene started their first game of the season when the Golden Eagles lined up in the I-formation to begin the game.
Chris Campbell connected with Dominique Sullivan for an 18-yard scoring strike. It was the fourth passing touchdown of the season and second time this season the two have connected for a touchdown strike.
Southern Miss played three quarterbacks in a game for the fourth time this season.
SMU held the Golden Eagles to a season-low 178 yards.

Defensive Notes

Rakeem Nunez-Roches tallied two tackles for loss on the day to give him five for the season.
Jamie Collins forced his fourth fumble of the season in the third quarter. That ties for third in a single season - the top mark is five. It is the third straight year that a player has forced four fumble. Cordarro Law did it each of the last two seasons.
Collins also led the team in tackles for the eighth time this season. He finished with seven tackles, including two for a loss with the forced fumble. He now has a team best 18 TFLs on the season.
The Golden Eagles held SMU scoreless in the third quarter. It is the second time this season the team has accomplished that feat.

Special Teams Notes

Peter Boehme booted his ninth and tenth punts of 50 yards or more with a second quarter boot of 54 yards and a career-long 64-yarder in the third quarter.
Boehme's previous long was a 63-yarder against Tulsa in 2009 in Hattiesburg.
Jerrion Johnson blocked a fourth quarter field goal attempt which was returned 48 yards by Deron Wilson. It was the fourth blocked kick of the season for Southern Miss.
Boehme also tied a career-high for punts in a single game with eight.
