HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Hot weather returned to the Southern Miss practice field Tuesday afternoon as the Golden Eagles continued preparations for Southeastern Louisiana this weekend.
With the weather hovering around 90 degrees, the Golden Eagles went two hours, 15 minutes in full pads at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
Southern Miss continued work in rebounding from its Conference USA-opening loss last Saturday at Marshall, 26-20. Fourth-year coach Larry Fedora liked the work day from the Eagles and stressed that his team has the character to fight back from adversity, especially after absorbing a tough loss last Saturday on the road.
"All we are worried about is Southern Miss playing the best football that we can play this Saturday," said Fedora. "That is the key, and us preparing the best that we can be everyday, so that on Saturday we can play our best football."
The Golden Eagles (1-1) entertain the Lions (1-1) at 6 p.m. at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since Southern Miss registered a 45-0 victory over SLU during the 2006 season.
Tickets are still available by going online at SouthernMiss.com, or by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Center weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office, along with the Eagle Club Offices will also be open on Saturday from 10 a.m., until 2:30 p.m., at the Ferlise Center. The ticket operation will then move to Roberts Stadium beginning at 3 p.m., and will be open until halftime.
