HATTIESBURG, Miss. - On the first day of camp, coach Larry Fedora noted that he wanted to see how his team looked later in camp and on Friday morning at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility, he got that opportunity."We talked on the very first day that it wasn't about where we were on day 1 when it's easy for everybody," said Fedora. "(It's about) where we are on day 15, day 16, day 20. Day 16 wasn't like day 1, but it was pretty close."
Fedora and his coaching staff challenged the team in their meetings on Thursday night to bring the same energy to Friday's practice as they did to the first day of camp nearly three weeks ago.
"Guys came out and got after it. That's what we challenged them to do last night," the fourth-year coach added. "We said we were going to go out there and get after it and practice 16 was going to be as good as practice No. 1, and we were pretty close.
"I think the guys are really working hard, I really do. There is definitely a noticeable amount of effort being put out on that field. There are a lot of guys who are giving everything they got."
As camp winds down, injuries and ailments become more commonplace but Fedora said it was just the flow of the game.
"It's college football," said Fedora. "You're three weeks into this thing, into camp, into two-a-days. You better be sore. You better be tired. Something better be hurting. If it's not, you haven't been playing the game the right way."
