HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss head coach Abbey Sutherland announced that the 2011 volleyball team will get an addition in walk-on freshman Alex Pfefferle of New Orleans, La.
Pfefferle, a 5'5" libero, attended Mount Carmel High School where she was a three-year letter winner while helping her team win two state championships. She was a member of the 2010 preseason all-metro volleyball team and voted her team's captain. She earned all-district honors for the past two seasons. Pfefferle also was named to the Clarion Herald All-Star volleyball team. She earned numerous in-season all-tournament honors.
"Alex is a hard working individual and will add lots of depth to our roster," Sutherland said. "I'm very excited for her to become a Golden Eagle. She is a total team player and will be a great asset to our volleyball program."
Pfefferle tallied a school record 942 digs during the 2009 season. She was a member of the Principal's Honor Role for four years.
