Women's Basketball Team Travels to UTEP

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss hits the road for one of its three final regular season games, traveling to UTEP for a Thursday matchup at 8:05 p.m. (CT). The Lady Eagles have lost five of their last six games and looking to get back on the winning track.

Southern Miss is 10-16 overall and 5-8 in the league after a 79-52 loss to Rice
Tanesha Washington was the only Lady Eagle to score in double figures with a team-high 21 points
The Lady Eagles own a 109-133 record in regular season conference games in C-USA
Three players continue to average in double figure scoring, junior Rachel Vigers at 16.9 (who has missed the last six games), followed by Tanesha Washington at 14.4 and Jamierra Faulkner at 12.3 points per game
Washington leads the team in rebounding with 9.1 rebounds per game
Jamierra Faulkner leads the league and the team in assists while ranking among the national leaders
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 61.2 points and 39.5 rebounds per game while shooting 39.3 percent from the field and 66.1 percent from the line.
Freshman Jamierra Faulkner was one rebound shy of a triple-double against Tulane (1/20) as she dished out 11 assists to go with her 24 points and two steals

Scouting UTEP
The Miners come into the contest with a 13-12 overall record and 5-8 in conference play, following a 77-61 loss at Houston Sunday. Dietra Caldwell led the way with 14 points with Kim Smith adding 12 and Ashley Milian grabbing 12 boards, for the Miners.
Coach Keitha Adams is in her 10th season at UTEP. Gloria Brown paces the Miners in scoring and rebounding with averages of 12.1 points and 6.4 rebounds. Caldwell chips in 9.6 points per game. As a team, UTEP is averaging 69.7 points and 39.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 70.1 percent from the line.
The Series
This is the eighth meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1993 season when the two teams met in the Lady Eagle Classic with Southern Miss winning that meeting. It would be 13 years before the two teams played against, this time, as members of Conference USA. The Golden Eagles won the buzzer-beater in that meeting. Since, UTEP has won four of the last five meetings. Last season, Southern Miss snapped a four-game losing streak against the Miners. UTEP leads the all-time series, 4-3. Southern Miss has never won in El Paso.

Lady Eagles will conclude their home schedule with Super SENIOR Sunday in a 2 p.m., tip against UCF.
