HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team went through its second day of practice at Aloha Stadium here Wednesday morning in preparation for Saturday's Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl.
The Golden Eagles (11-2 overall, 6-2 C-USA) practiced for almost two hours under mostly sunny skies on the game field for this weekend's game.
Although periodic rains have hit the islands for much of the Golden Eagles' stay, the 2011 Conference USA champions enjoyed perfect conditions during their Wednesday workout that included some individual work as well as the offense and defense continuing to put in the game plan against Nevada.
The practice ended with the team's two-minute drill, featuring the first offense versus the first defense.
Following practice, the team was fed by one of the island's famous local restaurants, Murphy's Bar and Grill, at the stadium. The team then ventured to Pearl Harbor to view the site of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack that began the country's entry into World War II. The team got the opportunity to visit the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial during its trip there.
The Golden Eagles have also enjoyed the events provided by the bowl game during their stay.
After enjoying the Outback Steakhouse Barefoot Pep Rally Tuesday night, which included a movie on the beach on a huge screen, the Golden Eagles will enjoy a luau Wednesday night to complete their day's festivities.
Southern Miss takes on a 7-5 Wolf Pack squad this Saturday that finished third in the Western Athletic Conference in the 10th anniversary of this game.
The game is slated to take place at 7 p.m., CT on Christmas Eve, with the game being aired on the Southern Miss IMG Sports Network. The tilt also will be televised nationally on ESPN.
