Golden Eagles Move up Three Spots in BCS Rankings

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team moved up three spots in the latest release of the Bowl Championship Series rankings Sunday night with a No. 22 showing.
The Golden Eagles, which made their first ranking since the 2004 season last weekend with a No. 25 position, are one of two Conference USA schools listed in the ranking as Houston is at No. 11.
Southern Miss, winners of their last seven games, holds an 8-1 overall record and lead the East Division of C-USA with 4-1 mark.
Earlier in the day, the Golden Eagles moved up one place in the USA Today Coaches Poll to No. 23 and entered the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since 2004 with a No. 25 ranking.
The Golden Eagles return home this week when they play host to C-USA East rival UCF (4-5, 2-3). Game time is set for 7 p.m., CT at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
