Overall Statement...
"Our special teams made some really nice plays and some game-changing plays. The defense scored as much as we did on offense, basically. We got the pick and then blocked a punt. It made it tough on our defense. I think they played 49 snaps in the first half. The defense was hurting in the first half. You can't play that many snaps and expect them not to hurt."
"We forced some turnovers, but we didn't take advantage of all the opportunities we had to force more, but we made some plays. That's what we've done all year long. Our defense had their backs against the wall and we had guys step up and make plays."
"We have UCF coming up this week and nothing has changed. We're in the same situation we were in after the first conference game. We have put ourselves in this situation by the way we've prepared, practiced, and the way we have paid attention to detail. If we continue to do that, we'll be alright."
East Carolina Head Coach Ruffin McNeill
Overall Statement...
"The two special teams touchdowns and the two interceptions they returned for touchdowns really hurt us. We felt like we could move the ball on them and we did. We had a great week of practice and mental preparation. We had the momentum but an interception like [Southern Miss] got really hurts."
"On the blocked punt, we tried the rugby kick. We wanted it to land and roll because we know how dangerous Lampley is. We didn't kick it or cover it well."
"I'll just tell the guys to take care of themselves and their bodies. We still have a lot to play for. We have three games left. I want to finish strong as a team and as a program. We want to become bowl eligible and send these seniors out properly."
