Notes Heading into the Memphis Game
- The Golden Eagles can capture the Conference USA East Division race with a victory over Memphis in the team's regular-season finale. Southern Miss looks to get back on the winning side after having an eight-game winning streak snapped at UAB.
- Southern Miss will try to go undefeated at home in a season for the second time under Larry Fedora this weekend as the program has gone 6-0 in its home facility, Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium, just one other time in 2009 - Fedora's second season. Since 1976, the Golden Eagles have finished their home schedule undefeated nine times total (3-0, once; 4-0, five times; 5-0, twice and 6-0, once). The Golden Eagles are 129-44 (.746) at home since 1976.
- The Golden Eagles are 11-3 in the month of November under Larry Fedora.
- Junior punter Peter Boehme threw his first collegiate touchdown, a 10-yard strike to Ryan Bolden, on a fake field goal in the first quarter.
- With its 523 yards of total offense against the Blazers, the Golden Eagles eclipsed the 5,000-yard mark for the fifth-straight season. Southern Miss currently has 5,097.
- Southern Miss plays its regular-season finale at home for the first time since a 16-10 victory over Arkansas State on 11/24/07.
- The Golden Eagles are 82-34 all-time in Conference USA games and 42-15 at home in league contests. Southern Miss has won four consecutive home games against league foes.
The Memphis Series
- The "Black and Blue" game will mark its 62nd meeting this Saturday with the Golden Eagles holding a 39-21-1 advantage in the series. Southern Miss has also captured the last two games in the series. (See page five of the notes for the complete series breakdown)
- A win against the Tigers would give the Golden Eagles its first 10-win season since 1988 and only the third all-time, with 1952 being the other time that they collected that feat.
- This is the first time the Golden Eagles are ending their regular season with the Tigers since the 1997 season as USM captured a 42-18 victory at the Liberty Bowl.
- The Golden Eagles are 19-3 against the Tigers in Hattiesburg.
- Southern Miss has scored at least 22 points in each of the last nine games in the series.
