Volleyball Falls To Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - The Southern Miss volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (28-26, 25-12, 25-23) decision to Tulsa in volleyball action Saturday afternoon, falling to 7-10 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Lauren Sears led the Golden Eagles with 10 kills on a .318 hitting clip. Amelia Hendrickson paced the defense with 12 digs while Lisa Knecht chipped in 10. Sarah Jane Bowden finished with six total blocks.
Southern Miss squandered a 24-18 lead in the first set when Tulsa outscored USM 10-2 down the stretch for a 28-26 win.
The Golden Hurricane rode their momentum into the second set and captured a 25-12 win. Tulsa held USM to a -.051 attack percentage as the Golden Eagles managed only six kills.
Tulsa popped out to a 7-2 lead to start the third set, but the Golden Eagles were able to battle back and eventually tied the set at 14-14. From there, the teams went back and forth as the set featured six more ties before Tulsa ended the set when the Eagles committed back-to-back errors for a 25-23 win.
Tyler Henderson registered a match-high 20 kills for Tulsa while Jessica Adams collected 18 digs.
The two teams will be back in action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. first serve.
