Scouting Tulsa
Tulsa comes into the game with a 4-7 overall record and 0-3 in league play following a 75-56 loss to SMU. Chanice Scott and Loren McDaniel scored 15 and 11 points, respectively against the Mustangs.
Coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson is in her sixth season at Tulsa and returns nine letterwinners including three starters from last year's team that finished 12-16. Taleya Mayberry leads the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game average. Tulsa has a balanced rebounding attack with five players averaging 4.5 rebounds or more per game. McDaniel leads the group, averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.
As a team, Tulsa is averaging 68.1 points and 42.7 rebounds while shooting 35.1 percent from the field and 62.4 percent from the line. Tulsa leads the league in steals and turnover margin.
The Series
This is the eighth meeting between the two teams dating back to the 2005-06 season. Tulsa leads the overall series against Southern Miss, 6-1. The two teams faced each other for the first time on Feb. 10, 2006, in Hattiesburg with the Golden Hurricane winning that matchup. Tulsa defeated Southern Miss in last year's meeting in Tulsa.
