Softball Concludes Home Portion of Fall Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team concluded its home portion of the fall season, splitting a games with Southeastern Louisiana and William Carey Saturday.
The Golden Eagles outhit the SLU, 11-7, in a 7-0 win. Mackenzie Sher was 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a double. Chanell Thurman also recorded two singles. Seven other Eagles recorded hits in the game.
Beth Dietrich got the win, working 5.0 innings and allowing only three hits. Courtney Ramos finished the final 2.0 innings and did not allow a hit.
Southern Miss lost to William Carey, 4-1, in the second game. Sher, Taylor Brown and Dinelt accounted for the three hits. Freshman Kelly Smith, who pitched 4.0 innings, took the loss allowing five hits and three runs. Ramos worked the final 3.0 innings.
Southern Miss concludes its fall season when the Golden Eagles travel to Spring, Texas for the annual College Classic. USM will face Baylor at 11:45 and Texas A&M at 4:15 on Saturday, then, play Texas State at 9:30 a.m., and Blinn College at 11:45 a.m., Sunday.
