HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss got in its final football practice prior to its first major scrimmage Saturday with a two-hour, 30-minute practice here Friday afternoon at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
Third-year coach Larry Fedora said that he was pleased with the progress of the team on the eve of its first scrimmage of the summer.
"Good workout today. We only had one (practice) and the guys got after it," Fedora said. "We finished up with a good format situation at the end of practice and had a lot of good things happened today."
The Golden Eagles now have gone through 12 practices this fall and Fedora has enjoyed the way his squad has performed, but said after practice that he wanted to see one thing on Saturday.
"The main thing is effort," Fedora added. "I'd like to see a lot of effort with those young guys. With our older guys, I want to see a tremendous amount of effort and I don't want to see any missed assignments."
The Golden Eagles are set to open their season Thursday, Sept. 2, at South Carolina.
Season tickets, as well as single-game tickets for all 12 contests are available online at SouthernMiss.com, via the telephone at 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Athletic Ticket Office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
