Team Notes
- Team captains were senior defensive lineman Anthony Gray, senior defensive back Chico Hunter, senior tight-end Johdrick Morris and senior offensive lineman Cameron Zipp. Southern Miss won the toss and deferred to the second half.
- Head coach Larry Fedora is now 1-2 in Bowl Games and Southern Miss is 9-12 all-time in bowl games
- Southern Miss outscored their opponents 138-78 in the first quarter this season, the Eagles outscored Louisville 14-0 tonight.
- Southern Miss has forced at least one turnover in each of the last nine games, they forced one turnover today
- For the first time in the last nine games Southern Miss did not score at least 30 points. The Golden Eagles have scored 40 or more points in seven of the last nine games and at least 30 points in eight of the last nine games
- The Golden Eagles did not score in the third quarter snapping a streak of 29 consecutive quarters and two overtime periods in which they and scored. The streak went back to the second quarter of the East Carolina game
Offensive Notes
- Offensive lineman Kameron Zipp made his 39th consecutive start today and 42st overall
- Quarterback Austin Davis hit Quintin Piece for a 32 yard TD strike in the first quarter, the 52nd TD pass of his career tying Brett Favre (1987-90) and Lee Roberts (1995-98)
- He broke the record in the fourth quarter
- For Pierce it was his fourth TD of the season
- Desmond Johnson rushed for a 62 yard touchdown in the first quarter. The rush was a career high for Johnson and set a new Beef `O' Brady's Bowl record and a new Southern Miss Bowl record that was previously a 54 yard rush by Kelby Nance in the 2000 GMAC vs. TCU
- It was Johnson's eighth TD of the season and third in the last two games.
- Pierce threw his second TD pass of the year, a 17 yard strike in the second quarter to Austin Davis on a reverse pass. Pierce is two-for-two on the season with two TD passes. He also threw a TD pass vs. Tulane
- For Davis the TD reception was his first career reception
- Johnson rushed for over 100 yards for the first time in his career, he finished with 102 yards which also established a Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl record
- Johnson became the third Golden Eagle to rush for over 100 yards in a game this season joining Kendrick Hardy and Austin Davis in the century club.
- Zeke Walters hauled in his second career receptions and first career TD to open the fourth quarter, it was a eight yard pass from Davis
- With Davis' third completion in the first quarter he broke the single season record for completions. He broke his own record he set in 2008 of 261. He finished the year with 276
- Tonight was Davis' third multi-touchdown game of the year and fifth of his career.
- Davis was named the MVP of the game for Southern Miss
Defensive Notes
- Collins caused a fumble inside the five yard line in the first quarter. Ronnie Thornton recovered the fumble for Southern Miss, his second of the season
- Southern Miss held Louisville to four rushes for -18 yards in the first quarter.
Special Teams Notes
- Danny Hrapmann did not make at least one field goal for the first time this season, his only attempt was blocked. He set a single-season school record with 26 field goals on the year
- Hrapmann finishes the season 26 for 31 in field goals and a perfect 55-for-55 in PAT's
- Hrappman extended his school record to 55 PAT's in a single season with four today
- Hrappman also extended his school record of 133 points in a season with four points today.
- Peter Boehme hit a 60 yard punt in the fourth quarter, the longest punt in Beef `O' Brady Bowl history
