HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss place kicker Danny Hrapmann received mention from two more All-America teams Tuesday afternoon as he was selected third team by the Associated Press and honorable mention by SI.com.
Hrapmann finished the 2010 regular season by establishing school single-season records for kicking points (129), field goals made (26) and extra points made (51). He converted the first 15 field goals he attempted this season and established a school game record with five made versus East Carolina.
The junior belted a career-long kick of 54 yards against UAB, which is tied for the third longest in the school's history.
The New Orleans, La., native was one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award and was a part of the Home Depot College Awards Show last Thursday.
Hrapmann is the first Golden Eagle to earn AP honors since linebacker Michael Boley collected second-team honors in 2004. The last USM players to get recognized by SI.com came in 2005 when both linebacker Kevis Coley and punter Luke Johnson garnered third team honors by that website.
Last week, Hrapmann garnered first-team Walter Camp Foundation All-America honors and was the second team place kicker by CBSSports.com.
Hrapmann and the remainder of the Golden Eagles (8-4) will have one more game next week as the program heads to their ninth-straight bowl game. Southern Miss will meet Big East foe Louisville (6-6) on Dec. 21, at the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg at Tropicana Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m. CT.
