Team Notes
*Today's captains were linebacker Martez Smith, offensive lineman Cameron Zipp and defensive lineman Anthony Gray.
*Today's attendance was 27,518.
*Southern Miss improves to 5-1 all-time against Marshall and 2-1 in games played in Hattiesburg.
*The Golden Eagles are 13-2 in Conference USA openers.
*Head Coach Larry Fedora is now 10-7 all-time in conference games 7-2 in conference home games.
*USM has won 11 consecutive home games, dating back to the 2008 season. It ties the M.M. Roberts Stadium record, which was set from 1998-2000.
Offensive Notes
*Senior center Cameron Zipp started his 31st consecutive game and 34th overall.
*Southern Miss' 41 points are the most points scored this year.
*Junior quarterback Austin Davis threw for 164 yards and one touchdown on 16-of-29 passing. He also rushed for 18 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns.
*Sophomore running back Desmond Johnson ran 13 times for 74 yards.
*Davis connected with sophomore wide receiver Quentin Pierce on a 19-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.
*It is Pierce's first touchdown of the season and third of his career.
*Davis had touchdown runs of six, seven and one yards. He has three touchdowns runs on the season and 14 for his career.
*Davis now has three multi-rushing touchdown games in his career, and his first since scoring five against UAB in 2008.
*Freshman wide receiver Dominique Sullivan caught his first career reception in the second quarter.
*Seventeen different receivers have now caught a pass this year.
*Senior wide receiver Johdrick Morris caught four passes for 63 yards.
*Freshman running back Kendrick Hardy's 13-yard touchdown was his first career rushing touchdown.
Defensive Notes
*Southern Miss is 12-0 under Larry Fedora when allowing less than 20 points.
*Southern Miss held Marshall to 52 yards rushing. It is now 13-0 under Fedora when holding teams under 100 yards rushing.
*The Golden Eagles held Marshall to 180 total yards. It is the first time the held a team to under 100 yards since allowing just 194 to UCF last year.
*Southern Miss held Marshall scoreless in the first half. It is the fourth time in under Larry Fedora that has happened. The Golden Eagles are 3-0 in those games.
*It is also the fourth straight game Southern Miss has held the opposition to three or less points in the first half.
*Defensive lineman Alex Burns recovered his first career fumble in the third quarter.
*Defensive lineman Terrance Pope recorded a sack in the fourth quarter. He has 2 ½ on the year and 3 ½ for his career.
*Under Fedora, Southern Miss has now forced at least one turnover in 28 of 31 games.
Special Teams Notes
*Danny Hrapmann connected on a career-long 51-yard field, as well as a 24-yarder, in the third quarter. He has now connected on 11 straight field goals dating back to last year's New Orleans Bowl.
* It is the longest field goal since Britt Barefoot connected on a 51-yard field goal against Tennessee in 2007.
*Reggie Hunt blocked a punt in the second quarter. It is the third blocked punt for Southern Miss this year. Tim Green blocked a punt against Kansas and Deron Wilson blocked a one versus Prairie View A&M.
*Southern Miss allowed a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to Troy Evans in the third quarter. It is the first kickoff returned for a touchdown allowed since Chris Johnson of East Carolina returned one 96 yards in 2006.
