Softball Begins Preparations 2010 Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team officially opened the 2010 preseason this week at Southern Miss Softball Complex as the team held the first practices for the spring.
Coach Howard Dobson begins his third season at the helm and returns 13 letterwinners including seven position starters and one pitcher that finished with a 26-28-2 record. Dobson also welcomes six newcomers to the squad that includes a Junior College All-American and two pitchers. The team will go daily workouts beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles will have 21 days before they open the 2010 season on February 11 against Florida State in opening game of the State Sunshine State Classic at 4 p.m. Southern Miss also will face Mercer, Iona and Bowling Green.
