Volleyball' Ivanova Named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Senior libero Maia Ivanova (Sofie, Bulgaria) earned Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors after a sterling performance last week.

Ivanova was named to the Southern Miss Invitational All-Tournament team after tallying 75 digs for a 5.36 per set average. She assisted the Golden Eagles (6-1) to a perfect 4-0 record for the week.

Ivanova started the week with 15 digs against Nicholls State, then posted a season-high 26 digs against Sam Houston State, 20 digs against Jacksonville and 14 against Louisiana Tech. She recorded double-digits in all four matches, including two matches with 20-or-more digs. She also had a .984 reception percentage and recorded five aces. This is Ivanova's first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.

The Golden Eagles travel to Mississippi State Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
