Softball Signees Earned Additional Awards

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The 2009 freshman softball signee class racked up several awards during the summer.
Beth Dietrich was tabbed the league's top pitcher earning All-district 24-4A Player of the Year. She posted an impressive 20-9 record in the circle, fanning 215 batters in 152 innings with an ERA of 0.47.
Dietrich was named to the Texas Sportswriters' Association (TSWA) All-State second team in 4A. Her summer travel team, Texas Storm DeMarini Gold, participated in the following tournaments this summer: ASA Gold Southern Territory Qualifier in Marietta, Ga.; ASA Gold Southern Territory Qualifier in Tulsa, Okla.; Team New Jersey Summer Classic; Independence Day Tournament, Boulder, Colo.; ASA Region 7 Gold Qualifier in San Antonio, Texas and the Louisville Slugger Texas Impact Gold Invitational Tournament in Houston, Texas.
Danielle La Pointe earned first team all-league and all CIF-SS Division IV second team honors for two consecutive years in addition to earning The Press-Enterprise honorable mention honors in 2009. She was named the 2009 Female Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year.
La Pointe played with the Minors 18A/Gold summer travel team and participated in the following tournaments this summer: American Pastime Summer Kick-Off Tournament in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; JO Classic Showcase in Las Vegas, Nev.; ASA State Qualifier in Riverside, Calif.; Fireworks Tournament in Aurora, Colo. and Champions Cup in Irvine, Calif.
Gabby Luciani earned 5A Desert West All-Region first team, 5A Arizona All-State honorable mention and Centennial High School Coyote Pride Award. She finished posted a 20-6 record with an ERA of 0.16, striking out 175 batters in 139 innings pitched. She batted .330 with 16 runs batted in.
Luciani played summer travel ball with the Arizona Desert Thunder travel team and participated in the following tournaments: JO Classic Showcase in Las Vegas, Nev.; ASA Gold Qualifier in Bloomington, Ind.; ASA Gold Qualifier in Boulder, Colo.; the ASA Rocky Mountain Gold Regional Qualifier in Phoenix, Ariz.; and most recently the prestigious 64 team ASA 18 Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla., where her team finished tied for 9th place with a 5-2 record.
Christina Roosmalen was featured in the Vype High School Sports Magazine (March 2009 Vol 2 No. 17 issue) in the "Vype Hot 20: Softball Players and "Best Hitters" to watch. She was nominated for the 2009 Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-Star Game for the 4A-5A East Team, while earning Texas Coaches Association first team all-state honors. She also earned Dallas/Forth Worth All-Area second team as an infielder for Plano West High School and received the Plano West High School softball team Golden Bat Award.
Roosmalen batted hit .427 with three homeruns and 20 RBI and earned the 2008-2009 8-5A All District Offensive Player of the Year MVP award.
Roosmalen played with the Texas Glory Gold Shelton summer travel team and participated in the following tournaments this summer: ASA Gold Southern Territory Qualifier in Marietta, Ga.; ASA Gold Southern Territory Qualifier in Tulsa, Okla.; Team New Jersey Summer Classic; Independence Day Tournament, Boulder, Colo.; ASA National Gold Qualifier in Oklahoma City, Okla.; Louisville Slugger Texas Impact Gold Invitational Tournament in Houston, Texas and most recently the prestigious 64 team ASA 18 Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla., where her team finished tied for 13th place with a 3-2 record.
