HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss sophomore DeAndre Brown is one of the 37 players on the 2009 Biletnikoff Award watch list, which recognizes the top wide receiver in college football.
Four other Conference USA players, Houston sophomore Tyron Carrier, SMU junior Aldrick Robinson, Tulsa sophomore Damaris Johnson and UTEP junior Kris Adams also are on the list.
Brown caught a school-record 67 passes as a true freshman for 1,117 yards, to go along with 12 touchdown receptions in 2008. The preseason All-Conference USA selection broke two additional records during the campaign including most touchdown receptions in a game with four against Rice, while also tallying the longest play from scrimmage of 97 yards on a pass from fellow freshman Austin Davis.
The winner of the 17th Biletnikoff Award will be announced as part of ESPN's College Football Awards Show on December 10th. The award will be officially presented to the winner at the annual Biletnikoff Award dinner, hosted by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club, on February 12, 2009.
