Baseball Jumps to No. 8 National Ranking

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team has made a lot over history the past couple of weeks by winning the school's first regional and super regional tournament while advancing to the College World Series and now they have earner their highest ever national ranking.
Two different polls have Coach Corky Palmer's team at No. 8 nationally, Collegiate Baseball and the College Baseball Writers (NCBWA) while Baseball America has the Golden Eagles at No. 11.
The highest previous ranking for the Golden Eagles was No. 11 which happened in the 2004 season.
Southern Miss will play in the school's first College World Series game this weekend as they face the No. 1 overall seed Texas Longhorns, who is ranked as high as No. 4 (Baseball America) in the latest polls.
The two teams will square off in the cathedral of college baseball, Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium on Sunday, June 14th at 6:00 p.m. The game will be carried live on ESPN 2 in high definition.
