HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss track and field teams held its final home meet of the season and a limited number of the athletes competed. Due to a timing malfunction, all times were hand held times.
Tori Bowie finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 11.82, followed by Tandra Patterson finishing fourth with a time of 11.96, Ashley May came in fifth with a time of 12.06 and Kimberly Walker was eight with a time of 13.04.
Patterson was the top finisher for the Eagles in the 200 meters with a time of 25.54, Bowie ran a time of 26.41 and Walker ran 26.96.
Cheris Fletcher ran a time of 54.81 in the 400 meters and Terria Wheeler was fourth with a time of 55.54. Erin Gatling finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.82 and Ke'Aura Lawson ran a time of 2:22.80.
Simona Costache and Jessica Cheeks placed second and third in the triple jump with marks of 11.85m (38-10.50) and 11.76m (38-7). Candace Burgard was second in the shot with a throw of 11.85m (38-10.50), followed by Rushae Collier at 11.53m (37-10), Iris Smith was fifth with a throw of 10.95m (35-11.25), Cara Wells was sixth at 10.53m (34-6.75) and Hayley Wommack was seventh at 30.40m (34-1.50).
Cara Wells was first in the discus with a throw of 40.69m (133-6), followed by Burgard at 37.82m (124-1), Smtih at 32.65m (107-1) and Wommack at 31.10m (102'0).
Collier was second in the hammer with a throw of 47.41m (155'6). Jessica Bussey placed second in the javelin with a throw of 37.94m (124-6) and Burgard was third with a throw of 36.26m (118-11).
Gary Ellis ran a time of 11.01 and Devan House ran 11.07 in the 100 meters. Ellis finished first in the 200 meters with a time of 22.09, followed by Derrick Collins with a time of 22.71, Alex Mitan was fourth with a time of 23.06 and Cordell was fifth with a time of 24.01. Kinn finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.98. Avery Fulp was fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.36.
Vincent Tanui was second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:54.29.
Leonard McLeggon was second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.20. Ellis recorded a jump of 6.64m (21-9.50), followed by Jamal Porter with a jump of 6.35m (20-10). Ken Watson was first in the triple jump with a mark of 14.73m (48-4) and Ellis was second with a mark of 14.50m (47-7).
Marcus Norwood and McLeggon finished in a tie for third in the high with a jump of 1.98m (6-6).
Aaron Ammons was first in the shot with a throw of 15.16m (49-9) with Napoleon Benoit second with a throw of 13.96m (45-9.75). Ammons placed second I the hammer with a throw of 47.29m (155-2) and Benoit was third with a throw of 40.96m (134-4). Kyle Smith was first in the javelin with a throw of 59.64m (195-8), Aston Williams was second with a throw if 52.80m (173-3), Noah Slater was third with a throw of 52.77m (173-1) and Arlon Morrison was fourth with a throw of 49.89m (163-8).
Southern Miss travels to Oxford for the Ole Miss Invitational, May 2.
