HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Head Volleyball Coach Ricci Luyties has announced the signing of Brianna Arvin of Omaha, Neb., to national letter of intent and grant-in-aid for the 2009-10 academic year.
Arvin, a 6-0 middle blocker, was a two-year letterwinner and starter for Coach John Svehla at Burke High School. As a senior, she played in 88 games and tallied 180 kills with an attack percentage of .262. She played in 58 games and recorded 110 kills as a junior while hitting .304. She also was voted team captain.
"Brianna is an athletic middle blocker that gets up and over the net easily," Luyties said. "She can bring another dimension to our team defensively. I look forward to her adding more competition for that position. With more experience and strength work, she could be a great player for Southern Miss."
She currently plays club volleyball for the Omaha Wave and she is the daughter of Brian and Tonya Arvin.
Fall signees: Mallory Horriage, 5-10, outside hitter, Mandeville, La. (Northlake Christian) Hallie Ecker, 5-10, outside hitter, Moline, Ill. (Moline HS)
