HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team returned to action for its fifth practice of spring drills as the squad worked through intermittent showers during the 2 hour, 30 minute session here Wednesday afternoon.
An earlier heavy rain shower during the mid-afternoon pushed the practice to the Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium momentum turf. Still, the less that perfect weather did not stop the Golden Eagles as they went through their final workout prior to Friday's first scrimmage of the spring that will be held at Madison Central High School in Madison.
Friday's scrimmage will start at 5:30 p.m., and is open to the public.
"I said from the start that it didn't matter what kind of weather we played in," said Fedora, who has said that his team was going to experience all type of different conditions when they play in the fall.
The practice focused on position drills as well as special teams work, before transitioning into three periods of controlled scrimmaging that concluded with goal-line situations.
"It (practice) was better today and everyone seems to be improving to take us into Friday's scrimmage," Fedora added.
