HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss head soccer coach Scott Ebke announced today the addition of five players who have signed their national letters of intent/grant in aid to join the Golden Eagle soccer program in 2009.
Among the signees included in Coach Ebke's first recruiting class at the helm of the Golden Eagles are two players from Mississippi staying in-state, Ashley Goodlett (Bolton, Miss.) and Tricia Tillman (Madison, Miss). Ebke will also bring in three out of state players including two from Louisiana, both from Mandeville, in Caitlin Leumas and Lindsey Schwaner and one player from Illinois in Kristen Windecker (Tinley Park).
"Our 2009 class will bring a lot of athleticism and speed into our program," Ebke said. "This 2009 class is very talented on the field, but we are just as excited about their great character off the field. The future should be very bright for this incoming class and the Southern Miss soccer program"

"Ashley brings great strength and speed on and off the ball. She also displays deadly power and quickness in creating scoring chances. She brings an element of surprise as well as stability into any attack. She's a constant threat attacking and is one that will display scoring prowess. She's the consummate professional at training. She absolutely changes the environment of training with her willingness to do what it takes to prepare the team. She's a very versatile player as we've used her at every position on the pitch save keeper. Ashley's vision for final passes is fantastic and her accuracy with both feet to put a pass or shot wherever she wants will be invaluable tools for her on the NCAA division 1 stage."
Thomas Bobo head soccer coach at Clinton High School
"Ashley's unique ability to strike a ball with such power and accuracy is rarely seen in the women's game. The sheer power she generates makes her a dangerous scoring threat from literally anywhere on the pitch. Ashley's lofted balls on set pieces are a thing of beauty, making her a leader in the assist category as well. Ashley is also fantastic at turning with defenders on her back. When you put all of that together, it usually spells trouble for the opposing team."
