Volleyball Players Earn Conference USA Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas - The Southern Miss volleyball team picked up two of the three Conference USA Volleyball Players of the Week honors, as it won two critical matches over league foes Houston and Rice. Southern Miss currently sits in first place among C-USA standings.
Earning her first C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor, Angela Hlavaty came up big in a pair of C-USA home victories by averaging three kills per set with an attack percentage of .303.
Kelsea Seymour earned her third setter of the week honor, averaged 11.56 assists per set in leading Southern Miss past Houston, 3-1, and Rice, 3-2, over the weekend.
With the two wins this past weekend, Southern Miss recorded its first 20-win season since 2003.
CONFERENCE USA VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Angela Hlavaty, SOUTHERN MISS 6-4, Sr., MH (Lincoln, Neb.)
Hlavaty led Southern Miss to a pair of C-USA home victories by averaging three kills per set and establishing a .303 hitting efficiency (27K-7E-66TA). She produced a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs against Rice as well as recording six blocks. Hlavaty had 12 kills against Houston as well as an attack percentage of .409 (12K-3E-22TA). The senior finished the weekend with eight total blocks. This is Hlavaty's first Offensive Player of the Week honor.
SETTER OF THE WEEK Kelsea Seymour, SOUTHERN MISS 5-9, So., S (Long Beach, Calif.) Seymour averaged 11.56 assists per set in leading Southern Miss past Houston, 3-1, and Rice, 3-2. She tallied 44 assists against the Cougars and followed with a season-high 60 vs. the Owls. Seymour also put down eight kills with an attack percentage of .273 and totaled 17 digs (1.89 dps) to go with two blocks. This is Seymour's third Setter of the Week honor this year and of her career. Southern Miss recorded its first 20-win season since 2003 with the two league victories last weekend. The Golden Eagles currently are in first-place with an 8-1 C-USA record.
