Softball Hosts Annual Meet The Team Dinner

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Staff, parents, players, local community supporters and boosters came out for the softball's annual "Meet the Team" dinner on the campus in the Thad Cochran Center, Jan. 30, in anticipation of the opening 2009 season. Parents, fans and boosters were able to meet and greet the team and have dinner, prior to the opening weekend of the 2009 season.
On the night, Dobson had a recap of the fall season, including workouts, recruiting, winter camps and coaches' clinic and the stadium construction. Before the night was over, Dobson also shared his thoughts on the season outlook for the upcoming season. Fans and boosters had a chance to win door prizes.
Kirk Smart, Baton Rouge, La., native and radio personality for Prep High School Scoreboard, was the emcee and special guests included athletics director Richard Giannini and his wife, Gail, Senior Associate Director Diane Stark, Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator Sonya Varnell and Executive secretary of athletic director Lynn McLelland.
During the evening, each class was introduced and had an opportunity for a question and answer session. Each player was required to answer at least one question. The Lady Eagles open the 2009 season when they host the Southern Miss Invitational, Feb. 6-8, at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. Southern Miss opens with Arkansas, Friday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.
