HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss running back Damion Fletcher is this week's Player of the Week following his performance against Louisiana-Lafayette last weekend.
Fletcher, the junior running back from Biloxi, Miss., tallied the best production of his career with 222 yards on 21 carries and scored two touchdowns against the Ragin' Cajuns. Fletcher also caught one pass for 14 yards.
With his first touchdown run, Fletcher became just the fourth Golden Eagle football player to rush for more than 3,000 yards in his career. Fletcher also moved up to third place on the school's all-time rushing yards list, passing Southern Miss great Sammy Winder.
Saturday's rushing performance also ranked as the third best by a Golden Eagle running back in a single game, and Fletcher's first-half total of 181 rushing yards was a career-high, eclipsing a 123 yard first-half against UTEP last season.
