Softball Travels to South Alabama for Single Game, Wednesday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss looks to snap a three-game softball losing streak when they travel to Mobile, Ala., Wednesday, for a 6 p.m. single contest at South Alabama.
During its three-game slide, the Lady Eagles (9-6) lost a pair of games to No. 20 Louisiana-Lafayette including an 11-inning, 3-2 setback in the finale of the Louisiana Classics last Sunday.
Southern Miss, though, continues to swing the bats well as they bring in a .254 team batting average into the USA contest. Senior Jennifer Fox leads the way for the Lady Eagles with a .405 batting average with a double, a home run and 11 runs batted in. Sophomore Megan Hill is next for Southern Miss in hitting with a .370 average to go along with team bests of two home runs and 12 RBIs.
The Lady Eagle pitching staff has posted a 2.37 team earned run average this spring and has been led by junior Samantha Davis, who has posted a 2-2 record with a 1.85 earned run average.
The Jaguars enter the contest having won their last three games and are led offensively by Evelyne Pare who is hitting .450 on the year. Tara Donaldson is batting .405 for the Jaguars and Autumn Hudson has a .366 batting average with a home r and 10 RBIs.
Following the USA contest, the Lady Eagles will travel to Baton Rouge this weekend to play in the Easton Purple and Gold Challenge at LSU. Southern Miss plays LSU at 3:30 p.m., Friday, before taking on Penn State (11:30 am) and South Alabama (6 pm) Saturday. The Lady Eagles' Sunday slate will depend on how they do in the prior two days of action.
