Softball's Davis Named Miss Student-Athlete of the Week

Samantha Davis has been named the Southern Miss' student-athlete of the week after leading the Lady Eagles to the title game of the K-Club Invitational

Samantha Davis picked up two wins over the weekend with wins against Eastern Kentucky (7-2) and Kennesaw State (1-0) in the K-Club Invitational.

Davis worked 16 innings, including nine in a 1-0 win against Kennesaw State to win the tournament title.

In the nine innings, Davis walked only one batter while striking out 12, including the last batter in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the win and record her first complete-game shutout.

Davis was named to the all-tournament team for her performance. She gave up only one extra-base hit in the two games and one earned run, and finished the weekend with a 0.44 ERA.
